This farmhouse wallpaper adds a soft, subtle feel that’s still comfy and cozy.  Watch how celebrity designers, Colin and Justin, use it to decorate a farmhouse living room on an episode of Cityline.  Then learn how you can create this look, inspired by Shaker interior design, too!

TV personalities, Colin and Justin, share their farmhouse living room ideas based on Shaker design principles.

“Maybe you can fake the shake with a wall mural!  Now this is by a company called About Murals.  We actually found this image online…and we sent it to About Murals and they printed it up and turned it into this beautiful piece of art you see before you,” says Colin McAllister about the farmhouse wood wallpaper.  (1:33)

Recreate this Farmhouse Living Room

To recreate the farmhouse look in your own space, start by adding my farmhouse wallpaper on your walls, but only hang it at 3/4 height like the design duo.  It creates a simple and minimalist backdrop that allows country decor to shine.

Next, add a soft grey paint above the wallpaper and on accent walls, like Benjamin Moore’s Country Grey.  Highlight the top of the wallpaper with a natural wood peg rail, like in Shaker style rooms, for an authentic touch.

Layer in a pure white sofa, wicker or ladder back chairs and a natural coffee table, and you have a minimalist living room that still feels comfortable.

Realistic Wood Wallpaper

Part of the farmhouse look (and Shaker interiors) is using décor that’s minimal, neutral in colour and practical.  However, not everyone can utilize real Shaker wood panelling.

This white wood wallpaper acts as a gentle backdrop that boasts plenty of realism in the wood grain, knots and exposed nails.  It allows the texture from the wicker furniture to shine through.

Easy Hang Wallpaper

I always hang my wallpaper murals for the experts at Cityline, so they can focus on decorating their set.  I also offer installation services for clients in the greater Hamilton / Toronto areas of Ontario.  If you live elsewhere, find a professional wallpaper hanger at the Wallcovering Installers Association.

But DIYers rejoice!  This white wood wallpaper is so easy to hang, you’ll create that light, airy feeling in an afternoon!  Just follow my How To Hang video to help you along.

Wood Grain Removable Wallpaper

The producers at Cityline trust my removable wallpaper because it peels right off, so their wall is ready to redecorate in minutes (something that happens daily on set).

But in your own home, you can have confidence knowing it’s sturdy enough to stay put for years.  Even twenty years later, it won’t damage the paint or sheetrock when you pull it off.
