How to Get the Modern Farmhouse Look
Brian suggests taking elements from the traditional farmhouse look, like a beadboard feature wall, and mixing them with more streamlined decor like black matte metals, relaxed upholstery and whitewashed accessories.
But what if you don’t want to be married to wood paneling for years to come? What if you rent and aren’t allowed to make major renovations? What if you don’t have the skill to hang a real wood wall?
White Plank Wallpaper
Using a white plank wallpaper, like our shiplap wallpaper, is the easiest way to get the farmhouse look. The horizontal panels offer an authentic feel. Since it’s removable (with no damage to walls or paint), you can change the look as often as you like and most landlords allow it. The bonus? No saw skills required!

And just look at that wood grain! It’s very realistic looking and adds a soft, relaxed texture to your walls.
Farmhouse Room Ideas
Brian styles this farmhouse living room using Gluckstein Home furniture and accessories such as the black steel cabinet, textured and knit rugs and throw cushions, whitewashed clay lamp and stone table.
Using the shiplap wallpaper as a starting point, you can recreate this look with accessories in any room.
For the black steel cabinet, swap it out for a black mirror in a bathroom or end tables in a bedroom. For textured knit cushions, swap out for tea towels in a kitchen or recover chairs in your dining room. Find whitewashed clay soap pumps for your bathroom or a vase for your entryway.
