How to make custom wallpaper

Measure the width and height of your wall and enter the measurements (in inches) in the form to calculate the price, then add to cart.  Please add an extra 2” to the width and height of your wall to allow for unlevel walls.  This will be trimmed away during installation.

  • If you’re creating a custom sized wallpaper mural using a design from our shop, you’ll receive a digital proof to approve before your mural is printed.
  • If you’re creating a custom wallpaper mural with your own artwork, we’ll be in touch to get your photograph, stock image or piece of artwork. Once we receive this artwork, you’ll receive a digital proof to approve before your wallpaper mural is printed.

What does the price include?

The price includes basic set-up of your artwork, the wallpaper itself and shipping in Canada.  Basic set-up includes things like formatting your image into the proper size, adding words or a logo over an existing wallpaper or scanning your original piece of art.

Any intensive graphic design work may incur additional fees, discussed before any work proceeds.

You’re responsible for the cost of purchasing any image from iStock and/or the cost of shipping your original piece of art to the printing shop.

Quick Hang Instructions

  1. Draw a level line on your wall.
  2. Soak your first wallpaper panel with water, hang against the level line and trim off the excess.
  3. Place your second wet wallpaper panel on the wall.  You can slide it around to match the pattern perfectly at the seam, making it the easiest wallpaper to hang with the best results!  Trim off the excess.
  4. Repeat until done.
  5. Sit back and enjoy!

  • Custom wallpaper prints 1-5 business days after we receive your artwork approval, and arrives 2-6 business days after that, by courier.  You receive a tracking number.
  • Wallpaper samples may take up to 15 days to arrive, as they are sent via regular mail.

American customers, your:

  • In-stock wallpaper murals arrive in 5-9 business days by courier.  You receive a tracking number.
  • Custom wallpaper prints 1-5 business days after we receive your artwork approval, and arrives 5-9 business days after that, by courier.  You receive a tracking number.
  • Wallpaper samples may take up to 15 days to arrive, as they are sent via regular mail.

*Due to circumstances beyond our control, orders going to the USA may get held up at the border for processing.  Tariff rates for Canadian goods arriving in the USA are fluctuating wildly on a daily basis, and are out of our control.  You may be responsible for additional duties or tariffs upon your delivery’s arrival.  The exchange rate between the CAD (Canadian Dollar) and USD (American Dollar) may make these extra costs negligible.  Feel free to contact us if you need help calculating the exchange rate from Canadian $ to US $.

Return Policy

You deserve to love your wallpaper!  If (for any reason) you don’t, return your wallpaper mural for a full 100% refund within 30 days of receiving your package.  The wallpaper must be in its original container, unused and in saleable condition.

You won’t pay any restocking fees when you shop from us!  Just cover the return shipping fees.

Custom wallpaper, door wallpaper and wallpaper samples are final sale.

FAQs

Can you turn a photo into wallpaper?

Yes, you can turn a photo into wallpaper for walls as long as the photo is high enough quality. For an average sized wall, we suggest your photo be a minimum of 20 MB or 6000 pixels wide by 4000 pixels high. A photo with lots of texture prints out better. For example, a photo of a beach scene looks better with a cloudy sky and wavy water than a clear blue sky and glassy water.

If you have an old film negative, a local graphic design shop may be able to scan it in at high resolution and turn it into a digital image. If it’s high enough quality, we can print it as a custom wallpaper.

You may also turn many photos into a collage. Graphic design fees may apply. Contact us for a quote!

Can you turn a painting into wallpaper?

Yes, you can turn your own artwork into wallpaper for walls. Take your painting to a local graphic design shop and have it scanned at the highest resolution possible. Email us the artwork and we will turn it into custom wallpaper for your walls.

Can you turn an online image into wallpaper?

Yes and no. If you purchase the rights to use a stock image, we can print it into custom wallpaper. Images must be at least 20 MB in size or 6000 pixels wide and 4000 pixels high. We recommend stock image websites like: iStock, Shutter Stock, Adobe Stock, Fotolia, Dreamstime, 123rf and Alamy.

Images found on Google, Pinterest, Facebook or Instagram are usually not high enough quality to print, and you may run into copyright issues.

Can I customize one of your in-stock wallpaper murals?

Yes, you can add your logo or favourite phrase over any of our in-stock wallpaper murals. You can also order any of our in-stock wallpaper murals in a custom size. Simply find the design that you like, click the “create a custom size” link and add your wall dimensions. Any notes about your customization can be added during checkout. We will be in touch with a digital proof for you to approve before it’s printed.

What file format do you accept?

We create custom wallpaper from jpg, png, pdf, tif or eps (vector) files.

What image quality is acceptable to print a crisp, clear custom wallpaper?

Your image should be a minimum of 25 dpi (dots per inch), but the larger the better. To calculate the size needed for your wall, divide the width of the image pixels by the width of your wall. For example, 5000 pixels wide / 144” wide wall = 35 dpi.

How do I send my artwork to you?

Once you place your order, we’ll be in touch by email to ask for your artwork. If it’s too large to email, you can use WeTransfer.

Is there a fee for graphic design work?

Basic layout of your custom wallpaper is free. Additional graphic design work is charged on an hourly basis and is quoted before work begins.

Can I get a wallpaper sample of the custom mural?

You’ll receive a digital proof to approve before your custom wallpaper is printed. You may also purchase a custom wallpaper sample to physically see colours and touch if required.
