Modern Traditional: Get the Look

Although Brian’s segment talks about creating a traditional veranda, the concept remains the same for interiors.

For example, to create a modern traditional living room, start with my white brick wallpaper for a classic, clean look.  Add shutters to the windows, grey or navy area rug and sofa, a lantern chandelier, indoor black square plant pots filled with greenery and tall white candles on the coffee table.

Realistic White Brick Wallpaper

Notice that your eye doesn’t see a repeating pattern in this white brickwork wallpaper, over and over again?  That’s called a repeat pattern and makes average faux brick wallpaper look fake.  Since mine is actually a wallpaper MURAL, it doesn’t have a repeating pattern so it looks super realistic.

Why?

The photographer takes 72 individual, small photos of a real brick wall and stitches them together in Photoshop.  This creates a crisp, clear and realistic looking wallpaper mural perfect for an updated traditional look.

The experts at Cityline love my wall murals because they’re all removable.  They quickly peel the wallpaper off the wall when they’re ready to redecorate for the next episode, with no damage to the paint or sheetrock underneath.  Even though it stays put for years without falling off the wall, when you’re ready to change the look of your wall, just pull it off.
