This barnwood wallpaper acts as the rustic backdrop to celebrity designer, Colin and Justin’s, retro rustic revival segment on Cityline.  Watch how the design duo take it way back and create this 50s inspired living room.  Then learn how you can create the same look using this faux wood wallpaper.

“We used this incredible, incredible mural by a company called About Murals, and their products – I think – are next level because there’s almost a texture to that.  Now it’s a flat wallpaper, but it’s been really well photographed and it’s also really easy to put up.  And technically, if you put it up and you want to take it away with you when you move – if you’re careful – you can peel it off in one bit,” says Justin Ryan.  “It peels off like a dream,” adds Colin McAllister.  (2:10)

Watch how the design duo mix bold colour with the rustic vibe of the barnwood wallpaper.  It creates a cozy feel that brings back family values of the 1950s.

Recreate Retro Rustic

Retro rustic living room using barnwood wallpaper and vintage inspired furniture on Cityline from About Murals

Start with any of my warm, rustic wood effect wallpaper as your backdrop and then add your favourite brightly coloured piece of furniture.  Next, throw in a piece of beaten up tin, a crocheted macrame or a resin taxidermy over top.  Presto…you’ve created your own retro look just like these TV personalities.

Easy Hang Wallpaper

I always hang my wallpaper murals for the experts at Cityline, and offer installation services in the greater Hamilton / Toronto areas of Ontario.  If you live elsewhere, find a professional installer at the Wallcovering Installers Association.

But DIYers rejoice, if you want to roll your sleeves up and hang wallpaper yourself, use this installation video to help.

And since the TV set has to be stripped the next day for a new episode, the experts at Cityline trust my removable wallpaper.  It peels off like a dream with no damage to the paint or sheetrock underneath – even on your own walls years later!  Yet it’s durable enough to stay stuck.

Realistic Wood Effect Wallpaper

The reason my wood effect wallpaper looks so realistic is that the photographer takes 74 small, individual photos of a real barnwood wall and then stitches them together in Photoshop, creating a super high resolution image of 900 MegaPixels.  Some competitor’s wood wallpaper is only 25-30 MegaPixels, so the difference is huge and creates a crisp, clear image.

Non Toxic Wallpapers for Home

I know how important it is to safeguard your family’s health.  That’s why I only sell eco-friendly, non-toxic wallpaper that won’t harm your air quality like some vinyl peel and stick wallpaper out there.  Plus it’s printed on FSC certified paper that’s also reusable and recyclable.

Printed on Thick, Durable Paper

Because this faux wood wallpaper is made by blending renewable wood pulp with polyester fibres, it has outstanding strength and durability.  Plus it’s printed with dry ink (rather than liquid ink) which prevents fading.  This all adds up to a strong, durable wallpaper that you can wipe with a damp cloth and trust it won’t rip or tear when you hang it.
