If your wall is taller than the height of your wallpaper mural, you’ll want to know how to center wallpaper on walls horizontally. Another way to say this? Leaving space above (and possibly below) your wallpaper mural.

If your wall is, for example, 9′ tall but your wallpaper mural is only 8′ high, you’ll want to centre the mural on the wall horizontally. I walk you through how to hang a small wallpaper mural, like this Faux Wood Wallpaper, on a large wall in this step-by-step video.

Written Instructions
1. Measure
Measure where you’d like the top of your wallpaper mural to sit, from the ceiling down, and make a mark with pencil.
2. Draw a Horizontal Level Line
Using the pencil mark, draw a horizontal line across the wall using a level. This is what you’ll horizontally centre your wallpaper mural against.
3. Trim Panel Numbers Off Your Wallpaper
Trim the panel numbers off the top and the bottom of each wallpaper panel, making sure to write the panel number in pencil on the back of the panel. Wallpaper mural panels need to be hung in order so you need to know which panel is which.
Make sure you write the number at the top of each panel, so you don’t confuse the bottom and top of the panels.
4. Hang Top of Wallpaper Against Horizontal Line
Hang the top of each wallpaper mural against the level line, centering it on the wall horizontally, following all other installation steps in my How To Hang Wallpaper video.
