You may be wondering, “How many rolls or square feet of wallpaper do I need?”

Wallpaper murals work differently than traditional wallpaper.  You simply order the size that most closely fits the width and height of your wall.  It comes in the exact number of 18″ wide panels needed to fill the entire size.  For example, a 12′ Wide x 8′ High mural arrives in eight 18″ wide x 8′ high panels.

No need to figure out complicated calculations based on square footage and repeat patterns!

How to Choose Your Size

How to Choose Your Wallpaper Size from About Murals

Within the wallpaper mural pattern you like, you’ll find a drop down menu that asks you to Choose Your Wallpaper Size.  Each pattern has different sizes available.  Simply select the size that most closely fits your wall.

What if my Size isn’t Available?

If the size you need isn’t listed in the drop down menu when you Choose Your Wallpaper Size, you have three options:

  1. Centre the wallpaper mural on the wall (more below)
  2. Trim excess off larger sizes (more below)
  3. Order your mural in a custom wallpaper size

How to Measure and Choose the Correct Size

Standard Wall

Measure the width and height of your wall and then Choose Your Wallpaper Size in the drop down menu of the pattern you like, as close to your wall size as possible.

Trim any excess wallpaper from the sides, ceiling and/or baseboard once it’s on the wall.

It’s recommended to have at least 1″ on each side, top and bottom to trim away during installation to allow for uneven/unlevel walls.

Wall with Obstacles

Measure the width and height of your entire wall, including any doors or windows.  Then Choose Your Wallpaper Size in the drop down menu of the pattern you like, as close to your total wall size as possible.

Trim excess wallpaper away from doors, windows and electrical outlets once it’s hung on the wall.

These wallpaper murals can be hung over smooth, flat doors if desired.  It’s recommended to add a plastic corner protector to any door edges for extra protection.

Wall with Sloped Ceilings

Measure the width and height of your entire wall at it’s widest and tallest points.  Then Choose Your Wallpaper Size in the drop down menu of the pattern you like, as close to your total wall size as possible.

Trim excess wallpaper away from the sloped ceiling or bulkhead once it’s hung on the wall.

Mural is Smaller Than Your Wall

Measure the width and height of your wall and then Choose Your Wallpaper Size in the drop down menu of the pattern you like, as close to your wall size as possible.

If your wallpaper mural is smaller than your wall, simply center it horizontally and/or vertically.

    1. Hey Saigeetba! The samples are 8″ x 10″. One side has a close-up of the mural and the other side shows the entire mural. Hope that helps!

  2. I have three walls to install a mural on and the 8′ wall is in the center between two angled 12′ walls. The 8′ bed wall has the two angled 12′ walls starting from the 8′ corners and point up to the middle point of the ceiling to 12′. How is this going to look with a landscape of very large trees and some water?

    1. Hi Susie! Based on your description of the room, I think a mural would look stunning in your bedroom. You’ll need a full 12′ high mural (trim off the excess at the top of the 8′ high wall). I suggest an image with trees on the left and right so you get the full height of the 12′ high walls, but have the water scape in the middle (on the 8′ high) wall so that none of the important parts of the mural get cut off. We’re here if you need help choosing a mural or creating your own custom mural from a stock photo. Take care! Adrienne
